After a great day yesterday playing golf with fellow professional photographer Steve Tarling, oh and Steve won, we made the drive from Ipswich to Brentwood for the joint BIPP&MPA Brentwood group meeting.

It was a fantastic evening with Steve Tarling showing a slideshow of the Ice Hotel he had photographed out in Sweden.

Also fellow professional wedding photographers Paul Cudmore, Gavin Woollard and David Islip also presented slideshow of their recent work, there was some stunning work on show and thank you guys for a very enjoyable evening.

The evening was even better when I was presented with my 2 certificates of Awards Of Excellence in the wedding category from the recent annual print competition.

Last Wednesday 17th March I was very pleased to be invited by the London and Essex Group who meet at Brentwood to judge their print critique.

The evening was made up of BIPP and MPA photographers who had brought in their prints to be critique by my good friend fellow photographer Rebecca Portsmouth and myself.

The whole evening was a very well turned out evening and Rebecca and I spent the whole evening going through some very good images and expressing our views on each image.

The evening was finished with both Rebecca and I awarding a bottle of champagne to the image we both thought was the best image on the evening.

Kevin Pengelly will be a guest speaker at the London & Essex BIPP & MPA meeting, at Brentwood this evening to talk about how he gained his Associate with both professional organisation the BIPP and MPA.

This will be the very first seminar Kevin has been asked to present and is honoured to have been asked to attend.

The evening has very kindly been sponsored by Queensberry so thank you very much Jo Newman for that, it is very much appreciated.

The talk will be in front of fellow professional photographers and Kevin will take them through his journey on gaining his Associateship along with fellow photographers Tony Bramley and Sandra Islip who also gained their Associates.

Pengelly Photography are proud to annouce Kevin Pengelly has just been awarded his Associateship with the BIPP, British Insitute Professional Photographers.

Kevin Pengelly is now Associate level with both professional organisations, on Monday Kevins panel was judged by a panel of 6 Fellowship standard photographers who make up the qualification panel.

Those who read our blog might be wondering what is Associate standard, well in Professional Photography there is 3 levels Licentiate, Associate and the highest Fellowship.

Licentiateship (LBIPP&LMPA) This is the first level of qualified membership which assesses a true measure of competence. The candidate will be required to produce a panel of work produced to a standard that can be reasonably expected from a professional image maker.

Associateship (ABIPP&AMPA) is midway between Licentiateship and Fellowship and denotes a high standard of craftsmanship and individual ability. At Associateship level work will demonstrate a refinement of technical skills and creative input, added to the competence of Licentiateship.

Fellowship (FBIPP&FMPA) is the higest standard qualifications attainable and recognises distinguished individual ability and exceptional standards of excellence. Fellowship requires the candidate to produce a panel of work that demonstrates extremely high levels of techinque and creative ability and to show a uniqueness of style and approach to image making.

Kevin Pengelly is now allowed to have the following letters behind his name, Kevin Pengelly AMPA ABIPP.

I have just returned from Darlington after gaining my Associate with the MPA, this was a submission of 20images judged by the MPA quailfication panel made up of 6 Fellowship judges.

Kevin Pengelly AMPA is only the second photographer in Suffolk to achieve this in wedding photography within the MPA.

Very special thanks go to Kevin Wilson FMPA FBIPP for being my mentor and getting me to such a high standard in wedding photography.

I would also like to thank everyone that has helped me in my journey to gain a very high quailfication.

With Sabrina gaining her Licentiate last December with the BIPP this makes Pengelly Photography one of the highest qualified husband and wife wedding photographers in East Anglia
